Liturgical Schedule for January and February, 2010

The Worship Commission is responsible for:

Art & Environment Committee – makes certain that the space for worship is suitably enhanced or simplified according to the demands of the season or feast.  Participants meet 4 to 6 times a year to discuss the needs of the season and to make decisions that are necessary to attain the liturgical environment.  They make certain that the church is appropriate at all times, but they are not necessarily the ones to do the work.

Music Committee – makes certain that the entrance song, the responsorial psalm, the gospel acclamation, the Holy, Holy, the memorial acclamation, the Great Amen, the Lamb of God and the communion processional are sung; and other songs are added or used appropriately according to the liturgical season.  The musical repertoire is scripturally based and does not dominate the liturgical action but serves it; cantors and choirs assume their appropriate roles in serving the people’s prayer.  This committee meets as often as necessary to discuss the music and musicians for each liturgical season.

Ministers Committee– makes certain that lectors, Eucharistic ministers, servers, gift bearers, ushers, greeters, and sacristans are catechized and prepared for their ministries.  Committee members have various responsibilities, including training, scheduling, and motivating ministers.  Members meet 4 to 6 times a year to discuss their roles in providing catechesis and training, as well as motivational tools.
